In memory of Vera Lang, my late mother-in-law, who lost her battle with colon cancer. I never got to meet Vera, she passed away before I met my late husband. Vera was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed wearing gowns, plus I still have flowers in my garden that Vera planted. Every spring when I see these flowers bloom, I remember that Vera planted them for others to enjoy in years to come.

New Blog Design

Some of you may have noticed - purple! Yes, I love the color purple, so I decided to change my blog to purple. My laptop is purple (just the lid). My mouse for my laptop is purple. My desktop on my laptop is purple. My windows and everything else I could change to purple on my laptop is purple! Purple is the main color in my craft room, including the sheers on the windows. I painted my jukebox storage purple (the bottom halves and the handles), my shelves are purple, and pretty much anything that wasn't electronic got painted purple in my craft room until I ran out of purple spray paint! Now, I walk into my craft room and well, it's just me! (I wonder how many cans of purple spray paint it would take to paint a legal size file cabinet and a 6-drawer map storage unit????) However, there is not one bit of purple in any other room in my house!

Something funny happened on the way to the Relay

At the Relay for Life meeting on Tuesday evening, I met a wonderful organizer - Jace. He works for the American Cancer Society office in Billings and travels around to all the committee meetings in the towns in Montana and helps us get organized! I took my two completed luminaria bags to the meeting and Jace sees them and says, "did you use a Cricut?" I was so surprised he knew! Jace smiled and said, "My fiance really, really wants one of those." I had to chuckle because after the meeting Jace decided a Cricut would be a perfect wedding present for his fiance! He said she makes cards and is also a scrapbooker. So, I told him I'd help him out by emailing him all the information. So, yesterday I sent Jace an email with the best sites for purchasing stuff for the Cricut Expression and cartridges. You're a wonderful person, Jace, and I really enjoyed meeting you! Good luck with your Cricut search and purchase!

It's been forever...

Or so it seems! I haven't posted in over a month, mostly because I've been busy with other things. I'm not happy when I don't get to craft, but recently my husband's hours got changed to even later shifts, and it's been a challenge keeping up with him! I have gotten in some knitting and recently spent a wonderful sunday vegging with my husband watching old movies on TCM, one of my favorite channels. (Of course, that was after we spent hours emptying our spare room and actually seeing the bed again!) I've been busy creating luminaria bags for the Hi-Line Relay for Life event August 6th, which is just around the corner. I still have t-shirts to make using my Cricut and freezer paper method and I am rather anxious about how they'll look! I only have 2 to make, so I will post pics of both the t-shirts and the luminaria bags. This year, I actually started a team called the "BC Walkers," which stands for brain cancer and the comic strip "BC." My late husband loved the comic strip in the newspaper and never missed reading it. So, I've got 4 more luminaria bags to get done, plus 2 t-shirts. Tomorrow night we sort t-shirts into teams and sizes, and apparently there are over 300 of them! Next week is Lewis & Clark Days in our town, so we'll be working on the Relay float for a few days. Then there is the booth at the park I'll be helping with. Oh, and let's not forget trips to Great Falls and Missoula for VA doctor appointments before and after Lewis & Clark Days. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything! I can't complain about traveling, since I get to shop in Missoula! If you've never been to a Relay for Life, you must take the time! It will touch your heart, I guarantee it! The lighting of the luminaria is something you have to see and I know will make me cry, seeing all the names of all those lost to cancer, those battling cancer, and those who survived their battle with cancer. Also, this year, my team is walking in memory of my late husband, Larry, and his mother, Vera, who lost her battle with colon cancer. Stay tuned for postings of my latest projects!
