It's in the Mail! #1

95% of the cards I make must go in the mail, so, that's the name of my new series - It's in the Mail!  I usually don't make cards that can't be mailed - although I enjoy looking at ideas on line.  I don't have a lot of extra money to spend on cards that will sit in my studio because they're too thick to mail.

Sometimes I find it just as challenging trying to reproduce a card I see as coming up with my own ideas. I saw this card and really liked it - then I added my own twist, of course.  Here is the first one and I reproduced it just like the original design by Chiaki Haverstick:

This is the card I made out of the same die, embossing folder, Tea for Two paper (printed from SU's My Digital Studio), and cardstock colors (Very Vanilla and Pacific Point):

As you can see, my sentiment is a bit crooked!

Be aware that if you decide to use this paper - some of the flowers are upside down!  Also, Pay attention to the print around the circles.

Embossed Birthday

This is a super simple card using an embossing folder I forgot I had.  Once again, I was looking for a masculine birthday card idea.  Just changing the only color in the card could easily make this a feminine card.  I used glossy card stock for the embossed piece then inked it with a distress ink and applicator.

Teen Birthday

As always, masculine cards are a challenge for me, especially the teenagers in our family.  It's hard to believe my great-nephew will be 16 very soon!  I still remember the occasion of his father's 16th birthday (and shopping for roper boots and Wrangler jeans for him - he was one fine looking young man!)  This is a pretty simple card to make.

Butterflies - Again!

I just got my Delicate Doilies Sizzlit die last night and had to play with it right away.  The original idea for this card is from LeeAnn Greff (Thank you!), and I changed it up a bit to use the doily die and the Edgelit die I've had for a while.  LeeAnn's card was tan, cream and black, and I wanted more color!

Splat Witch!

I admit right up front that I copied this idea from Sharon White (You can see her original design here: http://www.sharonsscrappyspace.com/2012/09/spooky-cards.html).  I saw her cute little witch and just had to play with the idea and this is the card I came up with - Sharon's "splat" witch (a witch running into a brick wall!).  Of course, I didn't have the right punches, so I used a Cricut cartridge instead.  So, here's my version of Sharon's witch:

Reverse Popped UpOrnament Card

I've moved on from ornaments to ornament cards! This card was fun to make. Below the supply list is the order of assembly to make this card easy to make, too! (I apologize for the poor quality of the photo.) It looks as thought the edges of the ornaments show when finished but they really don't!

Supplies:

Card Base: A2 Gumball Green Cardstock (SU)

White Cardstock (4" x 5-1/4" + a scrap for ornaments)

Cherry Cobbler Cardstock (SU) (3-3/4" x 5")

Gumball Green & Cherry Cobbler ink pads (SU)

Ornaments Framelits (SU)

Ornament Keepsakes stamp set (SU)

Teeny Tiny Wishes (Merry Christmas) (SU)

Word Window Punch (SU)

Modern Label Punch (SU)

White Crochet thread with gold threading (Lily)

Gold marker

Order of Assembly:

1.  Using Framelits, cut 3 ornaments out of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

2.  Draw in strings for ornaments with gold marker.

3.  THEN emboss Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

4.  Attach white mat to A2 cardstock base.

5.  Attach Cherry Cobbler mat to front of card using pop dots.

6.  On white cardstock scrap, stamp and using framelits to cut out same 3 ornaments as in step 1.

7.  Attach these ornaments through openings in Cherry cobbler card front.

8.  Attach crochet thread or baker's twine bows to top of ornaments.

9.  Add a sentiment with pop dots.  You're done!

Three Flowers

This is a "10 Club" card shared with us by Pam, my local SU Demo.  Her original card is slightly different than the card below - I needed more color!

Flowers in a Row

This is another stamping adult ed card - this time by Pam.  It's time consuming placing all the little flowers and leaves, but I like the results.

The base card is folded on the top instead of the left edge and is a light gray and embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  The pink cardstock for the flowers and scalloped strip is Pink Pirouette (SU) and the leaves are made using the Walk in My Garden Cricut cartridge and Certainly Celery cardstock (SU) and the veins on the leaves were made with a Certainly Celery marker (SU).  The flowers are cut with a punch by EKSuccess.  The pink ribbon has a picot edge and is 1/4" wide (Offray).  I used Perfect Pearls (Ranger) for the flower centers.

Gears & More Gears

This card was made using Sizzix/Tim Holtz mini gear dies (movers and shapers) and the gears embossing folder.  I distressed the gears using Weathered Wood and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.  The background cardstock is a light gray and the card base is black.
